David Lurie Photography was set up to showcase the photo images of my journey from being an amaetuer photographer to a part time proefessional photographer.
I've always loved looking at visual art and photos of people, and it was after looking online for beginner photography courses in Melbourne where i came accross UR Creative.
I signed up for an introdcutory digital photography course and was taught the basics. I then extended my search to compare photography courses in Melbourne online that offered a more structured hands on learning environment.
I ended up signing a "contract" with Photo Image photography courses Melbourne to attend their 2 year photography course.
It was a lot of money, $16,000 + for the 2 years. (I can't remember the exact price, I just know it was expensive)
I was so keen to learn photography that I signed the contract, and I was led to believe (verbally before signing contract) that the studio was going to become a registered training organisation and that the career course certificate in photography that I was signing up for was going to be a recognised qualificaiton.
Wow... me a recognised qualified photographer.
For whatever reason, Photo Image failed to acheive RTO status.
It's been 2 years since I signed the contract with Photo Image and I am not yet a qualified photographer, nor do I have the knowledge or skills to call myself a professional photographer.
I still however love photography and taking photos.
So for now, my website David Lurie Photography will showcase my amateur photo images.
